REVIEW: REV THEORY, OTHERWISE, & LOST POINT 10/26/2012

Rev Theory, Otherwise, and Lost Point was a big show for Grizzly Rock. Slowly, this venue is pulling newer and better talent onto its stage. This show started off very sparse and slowly filled in but never got packed. I was able to get a drink between each band and return to my spot next to the stage with no problem. All bands ended up putting on a pretty good show.

REVIEW: THE BASTARD SUNS, MF RUCKUS, & L.A.M.A. LIVE 10/13/2012

This was my first venture into Casselman’s Bar and Venue. It was very nice, clean, and even had bathroom attendants. What brought me to this place were performances by The Bastard Suns, MF Ruckus, and L.A.M.A. Live. This venue had a big open room with tables and a dance floor in front of a tall stage. The bar was up front and often got pretty busy. At the beginning, there weren’t many people. Slowly, people trickled in, and The Bastard Suns had a good crowd to perform to. The bands did great and were a good mix for the evening.

REVIEW: THE EPILOGUES, DARLING THIEVES, MY BODY SINGS ELECTRIC, AND TAKE TO THE OARS 10/6/2012

Summit Music Hall hosted a CD release party for The Epilogues. They invited Darling Thieves, My Body Sings Electric, and Take to the Oars to share the evening with them. There was a great fan turn out, and all the bands had merchandise out. The crowd was a younger crowd despite the age of the performers – mostly late teens to early 20’s. All the bands were friends and very supportive of each other. The atmosphere was upbeat and positive. My only qualm was that the lighting of the show was awful, as you can tell with the pictures. I refuse to use flash out of respect for the artist, so I did the best I could.

REVIEW: CHEVELLE & TURBOGEIST 10/3/2012
Gweedo

The Ogden Theatre is a cool place to see bands perform because the stage still has the old time theatre look. Chevelle and Turbogeist were a lot of fun and played well. The show started out slow with a really short line, but everyone trickled in by the time Turbogeist hit the stage. The one problem with The Ogden is that the area for merchandise is awful. It is at the front of the venue where people enter, next to the bar, and is in a very small area. This causes a lot of congestion. Chevelle was selling their latest CD, Hats Off To The Bull, autographed. The show could have been a little better had there been more than two bands, even if it was a local band opening.

REVIEW: TWINS OF EVIL ROB ZOMBIE, MARILYN MANSON, & DJ STARSCREAM 10/2/2012

When I heard about this tour, I thought I was dreaming. Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson? No way… Well, way – and way awesome. Two artists that love stage presence and treat their shows as more of a theatrical performance than just a rock show is a sight to see. JDevil was supposed to open, which was a little odd, but still would have been interesting. Due to Korn’s heavy touring schedule, Jonathan Davis was too exhausted to hop right onto the Twins Of Evil tour. So, his replacement was DJ Starscream. This isn’t a plug and play DJ situation. Their styles are drastically different. The lines to get into the venue were extremely long, and by the end of DJ Starscream’s set, the floor was packed with people.

REVIEW: BUCKCHERRY, LIT, & CHARM CITY DEVILS 10/1/2012
Gweedo

Monday night provided a great show at a great venue. Buckcherry, Lit, and Charm City Devils rocked the little walls of Summit Music Hall; a stellar line up for such a small venue. Charm City Devils was an excellent late add to the show. The crowd was small with it being a late Monday night, and the balcony was closed most of the show. More people showed up by the time Buckcherry went out, and everyone had a great time. It was interesting to see a wide range of ages showing up.
