REVIEW: FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH - THE WRONG SIDE OF HEAVEN AND THE RIGHTEOUS SIDE OF HELL, VOL. 2 12/16/2013
Gweedo

Five Finger Death Punch’s The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 2 came out just as the effects of Volume 1 were wearing off. Christmas came early with this and was quite a treat. It isn’t my favorite album. Although, I wouldn’t say it is bad at all. The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, Volume 2 marks their fifth release. This time, there were no special guests, but it does feature the first song that guitarist Zoltan Bathory ever played and a remake of an old song from singer Ivan Moody. To some fans’ rejoice, I believe there are a few songs on this record that harken back to the self-produced debut album, Way Of The Fist, that many fans still think is their best . I will have to respectfully disagree and stand by my previous review that Volume 1 is my favorite.

The Gothic Theatre brought the “evil disco” to town. Wayne Static, The Defiled, Madlife, Glass Delirium, and Ghost of Ivy rocked the old theatre walls. Gothic has awesome seating options. There’s room for a mosh pit and railings on the floor to separate you from that but still let you be close. Also if you are on the lazy side you can sit at the railing on the balcony and still have a great view. The beginning of this show didn’t have very many people though they slowly trickled in throughout. Everyone had merchandise out but hardly any of the booths had people manning them. It was another bitter cold day in Denver; luckily we didn’t have to wait outside to get in.

Dear Mushroomhead,

Please plan your next Colorado concert in temperatures above freezing. Thanks.

This concert was the longest 30 min. I have stood in a line at Summit Music Hall. Last I saw, it was three degrees while the dedicated waited to see Mushroomhead, One-Eyed Doll, UnSaid Fate, Ionia, & ELETE. One-Eyed Doll walked down the line talking to people and handing out stickers. There was a good merchandise area where all the bands were peddling their wares. Mushroomhead had a lot with shoes, a wall of shirts, vinyl’s, and CDs. Everything was reasonably priced, and you got a free poster to get signed with a purchase. There were very few people to start and the balcony was closed. This was a very special night celebrating Mushroomhead’s 20th anniversary.  JMann was performing with the band and returned to Denver after nine years.
