REVIEW: REV THEORY, OTHERWISE, & LOST POINT 10/26/2012
Gweedo

Rev Theory, Otherwise, and Lost Point was a big show for Grizzly Rock. Slowly, this venue is pulling newer and better talent onto its stage. This show started off very sparse and slowly filled in but never got packed. I was able to get a drink between each band and return to my spot next to the stage with no problem. All bands ended up putting on a pretty good show.

Lost Point
This was my first time seeing Lost Point. I’ve heard of them but never made it out to one of their shows. First impression was not very good. Coming into the show they were already playing which confused everyone because the show wasn’t supposed to start yet. There were no people by the stage and it seemed like perhaps a sound check. The band seemed very angry that they were performing to idle listeners, which was kind of off putting. They left the stage with no real acknowledgement. At show start, they returned, and by this point their loyal following had showed up. The dance floor had some people on it, and their attitude and music got better. Overall, their set was well received. They have some shredding guitarists and their sound is fairly unique with nice smooth clean vocals. They were very energetic and got the job done as an opener. Their merchandise was also pretty fair for a local act.

Otherwise
I was very interested in seeing Otherwise. They have been blowing up the radio with their new single “Soldiers”. I saw frontman Adrian Patrick perform with In This Moment a few years back and was excited to see him in his own band. The Patrick brothers and troupe did not disappoint. Very energetic hard rock is what they served. They were climbing on equipment, bouncing around, and giving it their all. Adrian has a strong voice and is a very intense singer. No matter what he’s saying, you listen. Their Las Vegas home has really been producing some quality rock recently, so make sure you go out of your way to see these guys. They are finally getting over the hump and should continue to climb the ladder of rock.

Hi Rev Theory, where have you been? I like Rev Theory, and they were the main reason I attended this show. Unfortunately, I often forget about them. They need to get another single on the radio and come through town more often. I saw them a couple years back for the first time.  They did well then and even better now. Ryan Patrick lent them his guitar skills for the evening. Their crowd interaction was enjoyable. Just like the previous bands, they were very energetic and put their best foot forward. They should have a new CD coming out in November. Their catalogue contains some really rockin’ songs that were showcased here. At the end, Adrian came out and sang “Hell Yeah” with the group.

This was a very exciting, entertaining night. I’m glad I came out for the show. Be sure to catch these guys in the future. As always, Grizzly Rock was a great venue, and I look forward to more shows hosted here.
