REVIEW: TRAPT - REBORN 1/30/2013
Gweedo

Trapt just released their fifth studio album, REBORN. This is a great accomplishment for the band since it was independently released by them. Though it was slightly delayed, it was worth the wait. It fits nicely into their discography and has some awesome songs on it. You can tell the music is unrestricted with the lyrical content and the overall tracks sound. There was no one forcing radio hits and proves that a band can produce solid singles. If Trapt has success with this album and continues this path, the title REBORN is very justified. The deluxe version has 17 tracks with a couple repeat songs performed acoustically. It adds a nice touch to the CD since some songs are a challenge to get to sound right acoustically and often brings out hidden melodies.

REBORN seems to have a theme of rising up and overcoming. I got this vibe from songs like “Strength In Numbers”, “Bring It”, “Experience”, and “Get Out Of Your Own Way”, just to name a few. The songs appear to have a lot of emotion behind them as well. I can only assume this is due to the struggles the band has had both internally and with their record labels over the years. The two singles off of the album are “Bring It” and “Love Hate Relationship”.  These are excellent singles that show this album is not to be trifled with. They are hard hitting, relatable, catchy, and make a statement – pretty much everything you’d want out of a single. All the tracks are composed and produced well with a mix of heavy and soft songs. Other than the singles, my favorite tracks are; “Livewire” and “Living In The Eye Of The Storm (Acoustic)”.
Trapt did an excellent job with REBORN. So far, their hard work has paid off. At the time of print, REBORN was #52 on iTunes Top 100 Albums, #1 on iTunes Top 10 Rock Albums, and single “Bring It” was #20 on Top 100 Rock Songs. This should be enough evidence that you need to go out and get this album. I can’t wait to see what else Trapt has in store.
